                              Arthritis

There are over 200 types of Arthritis. Typically we hear about two main types of Arthritis people tend to suffer from. In the following information the two main types of Arthritis (Osteo and Rheumatoid) are explained and compared to one another. The information given is primarily for educational purposes. It is not intended to diagnose or treat you for this particular condition. In the following information you will find how clinical massage can help treat arthritis. Caught early Osteo Arthritis is preventable and a treatment plan may be necessary.

Thank you for taking the time to read this great information!

Osteo Arthritis

Rheumatoid Arthritis

1st stage: Cartilage damage

Rheumatoid Arthritis is an auto immune disorder.

If cartilage on one side begins to “roughen” the bone will not realign properly if this occurs.

The body fight against itself.

2nd stage: Bony Adaption

Synovial fluid is actually being attacked by the immune system cells. (Gets worn down by down by immune system cells).

Bone rubs on bone causing the joint to get smooth and it will shave off pieces of bone. There is no cushion between bone which will eventually cause pain. Bones then have a tendency to thicken especially at the condyle and that will make tiny bone spurs.

The body improperly identifies synovial fluid as being foreign to the body.

3rd stage: Effect muscle

The onset of RA is caused by physical or emotional stresses.

Muscle will shorten and will become stiff and aggravated. The muscle can develop trigger points at this stage. ( stiffness causes decreased range of motion. Muscle can be continuously contracted which causes lack of magnesium.)

You could feel ill; have sharp pains

4th stage: Muscle will shorten

in the joints and a low grade fever for a long period of time.

The muscles develop atrophy. Muscles around the affected area will become weaker.

Tends to make more of a crackling noise.

*Osteoarthritis starts with toxic build up in the joints. It is a combination of minute toxins that build up in the joints. It is caused by many different things: Environment, clothes, food, etc.

Rheumatoid Arthritis affects: Muscles, Joints, Organs, Everything! It can be very sore and painful

*Why do toxins build up in the joints and not other places in the body? The joints create a great place for arthritis to develop. It is warm and encapsulated.

Inflammation of tissue happens in and around the affected joint. ( affects cartilage, cells, and sometime the surface of the bone.)

We have five layers of cells. The fifth layer being the deepest and strongest. Each cell only lives for a certain period of time. The body knows how long  each cell will live. The body doesn’t determine the toxicity in the body.

The body replaces tissue with scare tissue which is tough and unhealthy tissue.

What you eat can affect your body. What effect does it have?

When tissue is replaced by scar tissue you loose range of motion. The joint becomes stiff and the synovial fluid isn’t allowed to go through the joint as quickly.

It makes cell death faster and quicker

How does RA debilitate the body?

What Breaks down cartilage in the joints?

It causes stiffness, swelling, tiredness, anemia, weight loss, fever, and it can cripple the joints. It can cause inflammation outside of the joint. (ex. Swollen finger joint, the whole hand may be swollen.)

Toxicity in the body

Wear and tear on the body

Rheumatoid arthritis has cycles of latent periods and flare ups.

Characteristics of both Osteo and Rheumatoid Arthritis

*Joint physics are beneficial because it produces and replenishes synovial fluid.
