 The Process of Digestion

 1) Digestion begins from the first smell of food

2) The tongue is the first to taste flavor

3) As soon as food hit’s the palate - digestion begins. The body knows which enzymes to have ready to digest properly.

We should chew our food between 30-50 times.  The food should become liquid before swallowing. Mix with saliva/food or

up to about 2-3 oz of water per meal.

It takes 4-6 hours in the stomach to break down the food and digest into the small intestine.

Do not drink while eating. Enzymes get tired because every 15 min liquid is released from the stomach to the intestine. If thirsty wait for ½ hour before eating. Herbal teas are ok after meals.

Eating unhealthy foods/smoking can deaden the taste of food. Sugar weakens the immune system.

In what order does the body digest your food?

1) Body digests and releases liquids

2) Body digests carbohydrates

3) Body digests proteins

4) The body digests fats - we always need good fats with our meals.

Food then goes through alkalies getting rid of acid (neutralizes)

Action for our health takes place in the small intestines (the enzymes)

Did you know our digestive system is an emotional system? It consumes a lot of energy and can be affected by stress, depression, sadness, expectedness etc.

Our Bodies constantly produce new cells. With 80% Health we produce 80% healthier cells. With 60% health, we produce 60% healthier cells and so on.

Foods we should consume on a daily basis

We should always eat sources of soluble fiber - Fruits, Vegetables, and silium.

(Fiber pulls out high levels of estrogen out of the system)

Palm kernel oiled and coconut oil are oils with good saturated fat. They are part of the “long chain” types of fats.

Foods we should NOT consume

White Bread

White Sugar

White Rice

Dairy

These food stop assimilation by 60%

It becomes like wallpaper paste in the small intestine.

Normal Digestion: 12 hours

Normal American Digestion: 48 Hours

Types of Digestive Disorders

Reflux - When you have reflux we actually do not have enough acid in our stomachs. Sphincter stays open for to long allowing acid to come back into the esophagus.

Leaky Gut Syndrome - Acids leak through stomach and small intestine, body attacks the toxic poison.

Diverticulitis - Blockage in the small intestine, will create pockets of “sludge” in the small intestine creating blockage.

Diarrhea and constipation - both are caused by irritants in the intestine. Our bodies are trying to get rid of the irritant.
